Aranmula - Place of Araamula Kannadi

Aranmula is one of the most important tourist destination of kerala. Aranmula belongs to the district of pathanamthitta, which itself is a famous tourist destination. Aranmula is a place which has many attractions to it. Aranmula is recognized as the International Tourism Destination by the Union Government. There are three main rivers that flow through these regions they are, Pampa, Achankovil and Manimala, these rivers add to the beauty of the place. The picturesque village is surrounded by coconut grooves, many spices including cardamom and pepper are grown in this region. Aranmula is famous for 'Aranmula Kannadi'


Aranmula Kannadi:

Aranmula Kannadi is one of the famous attraction in Aranmula. It is a mirror which is made of polished metal. It is believed that a widow made this mirror by divine grace, the mixture used to make this mirror is unknown. It is made of a special metal alloy, it is a font surface reflection mirror that eliminates secondary reflection, these mirrors have great historical importance, it is closely assosciated with the Parthasarathy temple.

Boat Race

Aranmula Boat Race is one of the famous boat races of kerala, it is the pride of the river Pampa, it is the famous race which is celebrated with reference to 'Onam', the race is conducted at the last week of the onam, the race resembles Lord Krishna's crossing of the river. The boats used in the race are known as Snake Boats, the shape of the boat resembles a snake. The people celebrate the race standing on the either side of the river singing songs that fire up the participants, these songs are known as 'Vanchipattu'.

Parthasarathi temple

Parthasarathy Temple is a temple dedicated to the Hindu deity Lord Krishna. It is situated on the banks on river Pampa, it is the river in which the famous Aranmula boat race is conducted. The commemoration of the deity is in the last day of the week of onam, and the famous Aranmula boat race is conducted on the same day with reference to this. There are many devotees of Lord Krishna in these region, people await the day with prayers and poojas.
